be familiar with some of the basic theories and current academic research around conflict and peacemaking as they refer to Northern Ireland;
be able to critically assess the arguments for and against different ways to manage conflict in Northern Ireland;
be able to apply academic research to ongoing issues in the Northern Ireland peace process;
