'Nature' is a difficult to define, yet central concept in planning. This combination of ambiguity and centrality has generated a variety of challenges for planning when seeking to address the demands of managing our interactions with nature in an increasingly complex world. In response to such challenges, this module furnishes students with theoretical and practical planning knowledge regarding a range of key 'nature' related issues that can be critically employed in the practice of policy formulation and development management.

Students interested in how issues about planning for the flora and fauna aspects of 'nature' will be specifically interested in this module. The module complements without duplicating the content of MRUP core module PLAN 40610 (Environment & Sustainability). MRUP students wishing to deepen their knowledge about planning for nature may wish to take this module.
