PLAN40330 Research Design & Methods

Academic Year 2022/2023

This purpose of this module is to provide foundational research and design approaches that will equip students with relevant methodological knowledge that can be utilised throughout the MRUP programme. The module will focus on key research design concepts and well as outlining well-known qualitative and quantitative methods. In addition, research case studies will detail the application of different methodologies to understand core planning and environmental issues.

After completing the module students will:

1. Understand key research design concepts;
2. Be familiar with qualitative and quantitative approaches within the social sciences;
3. Be familiar with the application of key methodologies across research case studies
