This module introduces students to the key elements of the research process and research design in the social sciences. Key principles in social science research and methods will be described. Comprising both lecture style presentations and practical workshops students will learn how to evaluate the appropriate application of research design and methods in social science research. Key topics covered will include types of data collection and analysis research strategies, research methods and techniques used in both quantitative and qualitative approaches.

2. Understand key research methods, both qualitative and quantitative.
3. Evaluate the appropriateness of alternative research designs and methods.
