To enhance the understanding of clinical biochemistry and endocrine-related disease and their investigations at different stages of life including the neonatal and paediatric phase through to the later phases of life.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

Enhancing knowledge on the pathophysiological aspects of specific biochemical and endocrine related diseases at various stages of life, including Cystic Fibrosis and Multiple Myeloma. Students will attain an understanding of national screening programmes aimed at specific age groups including the Newborn Screening and Bowel Screening Programmes as well as techniques employed for sceening progammes and other specific diseases (e.g. mass spectrometric, electrophoretic).
