Academic Year 2021/2022

The student completes an internship in an academic or industry workplace. The internship comprises a research project, the theme of which is chosen by the student in agreement with the supervisor and MSc Course Director. The project may include experimental research, modelling/simulations research, and/or other research appropriate to the MSc programme theme. The project will comprise tasks which allow the student to apply knowledge and skills acquired during preceding taught MSc modules, and acquire further knowledge and skills relevant to the MSc programme theme.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, the student should be able to:
- conduct independent research;
- apply knowledge and skills acquired during preceding taught MSc modules and undergraduate training;
- acquire further knowledge and skills relevant to the MSc programme theme;
- write a substantial scientific report, including a literature review, definition of the research task, methodology adopted, and outcomes;
- conduct themselves professionally in a scientific workplace.

How will my Feedback be Delivered?

The presentation and Q&A session are specifically designed to provide feedback to the students on their ongoing research efforts. Furthermore, feedback is provided individually and continuously to students by their supervisor, plus by the supervisor and 2nd reviwer post-assessment.
