Curricular information is subject to change.

This module is concerned with mathematical problem solving skills across a range of fundamental areas in physics, including classical mechanics, quantum mechanics, thermodynamics and electromagnetism. Each section will begin with selected examples from these areas of physics, and an emphasis will be placed on those techniques that are most commonly used by physicists. The mathematical and computational methods used to solve such problems will be examined, and applied to a wide range of further examples.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

After completing the module, the student should have a good understanding of the methods used to explain the laws of physics. The student will be able to solve physics problems, across a range of topics, using those techniques.
