Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:Demonstrate a highly developed level of understanding of the ethical issues involved in occupational medicine, particularly with regard to patient confidentialityUnderstand the operation of the legal system in connection with safety and health at work;Detail the distinctions between civil liability and criminal liability;Apply the legislation on safety and health at work, including enforcement procedures;Recognise the dynamics of change in the law, influenced in particular by EC/EU and international developments;Calculate simple summary measures on a set of data and present them in an understandable format;Understand the purposes of, and general approaches to, statistical significance testing and confidence interval estimation.Design a simple data collection form for use in the workplace;Select an appropriate sample for inclusion in a study of health and safety;Design a study to investigate an occupational health problemInterpret study results, rates and statistics and present them in an understandable form for a general/managerial audience.
