This module will focus on philosophical and ethical issues arising from the context of the family.
We will ask: what is the family? What is a family obligation? What is the role of biology? What is the role of social norms? How much should the state respect family autonomy?
The lectures will be based on the following textbook: Baron and Cowley, Philosophy of the Family, Bloomsbury 2024. The e-book is available through the UCD Library portal.
