The aim of this module is to outline major experimental approaches to toxicity testing, including state-of-the-art ‘–omics’ approaches, and enable students to critically assess and integrate various information sources to perform toxicological risk assessments.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, students will be able to:
1) Describe and discuss current toxicity testing systems and standards
2) Explain the role of toxicity testing in chemical and drug safety assessment
3) Provide a systematic horizon scan of prospective novel testing approaches over the next decade
4) Demonstrate a basic understanding of risk assessment and its’ role in risk management
5) Describe how to conduct and evaluate a risk assessment
