In the first section of the module the student is introduced to the general principles of Pharmacology, in particular, the study of what happens to drugs in the body (pharmacokinetics) and the mechanism of drug action (pharmacodynamics). The student will then be taken through the principal classes of drugs acting on major body systems and their usage in the clinical setting. The module will cover Pharmacology of the nervous system, cardiovascular system, hormonal system and chemotherapeutics.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this module the student should be able to: 1. State the general principles of drug action, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. 2. Describe the pharmacology of the principle class of drugs used to treat diseases of the major body systems.
