PATH40220 Research Project: BSc Biomed

Academic Year 2022/2023

This module is core for stage 4 of the honours BSc degree in Biomedical Health and Life Sciences. Students are required to undertake a 12-week research project on a specified topic in Biomedical Research with a strong translational focus. Each student is assigned to a member of the academic staff, who will supervise the project. On completion of the practical component of the project, each student must write a report and make an oral presentation of their findings. Laboratory work is undertaken in Autumn. Research work and Laboratory books will be reviewed on a weekly basis by the research supervisor. Project write-up and presentations are completed in Spring. As these are biomedical translational research projects the students will undertake to interact closely with their supervisor to understand the clinical aspects of the disease process which may involve the attending of multi-disciplinary clinical meetings and /or other activities related to the translational nature of the project. The project write-up includes an Introduction, Hypothesis, Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusion and References.
