This module will provide students with a broad introduction to the professional domains, skills and approaches which underpin nursing practice in the perioperative environment.

Furthermore the module provides foundational knowledge which will support further specialist learning in the areas of intraoperative nursing and anaesthetic and PACU nursing.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Develop an understanding of the practical and philosophical underpinnings of perioperative nursing practice

2. Apply frameworks to critically evaluate the professional domains which guide perioperative nursing practice
3. Critically evaluate the role of the nurse in perioperative practice

4. Create a clear development plan to overarch learning within the sphere of perioperative nursing
