NMHS43760 Adv Practice Clin Practicum

Academic Year 2021/2022

This module allows students to pursue in-depth, directed and supported learning in advanced nursing practice applicable to their practice area as per defined pathway e.g. Chronic Illness Management/Older Person Care/Unscheduled Care. To facilitate the development of the students’ clinical knowledge and practice competence towards practicing at an advanced level within their specific area of practice. Specific focus will be on gaining competence in the core competencies for advanced nursing practice as set out in NMBI standards and Requirements (2017) as well as gaining the identified clinical competence to practice in their own practice area at an advanced level.
Knowledge, competencies and clinical skills for advanced practice in nursing relevant to the specific practice area of the student. Specific knowledge and skills requirements will be negotiated on an individual practice area basis with the student their preceptor/mentor and their employer/nurse manager within the framework and structure of the course record and assessment booklet. The major element of the programme will be substantial hours on clinical placement with supervision (as agreed under the site declaration form).
