Learning Outcomes:
On completion of this module the student will be able to:
1. Demonstrate comprehensive understanding and application of best practice professional knowledge, skills, and values in care of the child and family presenting with an acute injury or surgical emergency to PED - including initial assessment, critical analysis, clinical decision making and communication skills.
2. Apply defined relevant best practice essential skills and competencies in care of the acutely injured child in PED.
3. Be a knowledgeable and skilled member of the Trauma Team, including being a Team Leader.
4. Demonstrate an excellent understanding of the key principles in Spinal Care and Major Incident Management - including current local and national policy.
5. Demonstrate key skills underlying best practice assessment - in both primary & secondary survey/assessment.
6. Make evident a sense of professional awareness, commitment, responsibility, accountability, and effective interdisciplinary team working, in delivering optimum PED trauma care.
