On completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Apply prior knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacology of endocrine dysfunction in the assessment and management of the person with type 1 diabetes mellitus.
2. Critically evaluate each step involved in the titration of insulin in the insulin workbook for patients who have diabetes.
3. Critically discuss a case study for the person with type 1 diabetes that involves assessment, intervention and evaluation of current evidenced-based therapeutic modalities.
4. Initiate an education program for the person with type 1 diabetes and their family/carer incorporating a biopsychosocial framework.
5. Critically discuss the rationale for each evidence-based diabetes care pathway with the multidisciplinary team.

•The student needs to be registered with NMBI.
• Must have a minimum of one year post registration experience.
• Must work a minimum of 75hours per month in the care of people with diabetes.
