About this Module

Indicative Module Content:

Students will engage in comprehensive patient care planning and delivery with increased responsibility under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Students partake in nursing care as members of the care team and will apply the knowledge, skills, attitudes, critical analysis, problem solving, decision making and reflection skills on and in care practices at the level of one on the threshold of registration as a nurse.
Must pass Clinical Practice Internship MH 4D to complete degree and register with NMBI.

Students must complete all Stage 4 clinical hours before status is ‘degree complete’ and before NMBI registration.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
This is a practical module focused on clinical practice in care settings with service users.
Students will get to link theory to practice in real-life situations with guidance, support and feedback.
Teaching and learning is thus experiential and guided by practice, skills performance, reflection and discussion.
Competency will be assessed by the student's preceptor using a standardised document.

How will my Feedback be Delivered?

Students will have set meetings with their preceptor to establish a learning plan and goals to be met against specific domains and performance indicators and then to evaluate progress of these learning goals. Feedback will be provided by the preceptor and/or team and via the Clinical Placement Coordinator and documented in the student's portfolio of evidence - the National Clinical Assessment Document (NCAD).
