Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module students will be able to:
1 - Act as a member of the nursing and multidisciplinary teams and work towards the development of competence in the following domains of competence.
2 - Professional values and conduct of mental health nurse competences /knowledge and appreciation of the virtues of caring, compassion, integrity, honesty, respect and empathy as a basis of nursing
3 - Nursing practice and clinical decision-making competences including understanding and knowledge of the principles of safe, effective and person-centred care delivery based on partnership
4 - Knowledge and cognitive competences including life, behavioural and health sciences
5 - Communication and Interpersonal competences
6 - Management and team competences
7 - Leadership and professional scholarship competencies including self-directed learning skills, critical questioning /reasoning and maintaining competency.
Indicative Module Content:
Students will engage in comprehensive patient care planning and delivery with increased responsibility under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Students partake in nursing care as members of the care team and will apply the knowledge, skills, attitudes, critical analysis, problem solving, decision making and reflection skills on and in care practices at the level of one on the threshold of registration as a nurse.
Must pass Clinical Practice Internship MH 4D to complete degree and register with NMBI.
Students must complete all Stage 4 clinical hours before status is ‘degree complete’ and before NMBI registration.
