NMHS33090 Clinical Practice D (HDM)

Academic Year 2023/2024

The student will gain more in-depth experience in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of midwifery care and will be prepared for practice in these settings as a skilled, competent and safe midwifery practitioner. During these placements students are provided with opportunities to integrate theory and practice in preparation for their role as registered midwives. The student will be expected to apply a systematic approach to the provision of midwifery care for women experiencing both normal and complex during pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period under distant supervision. The student is also expected to be able to safely and effectively detect and manage obstetric and neonatal emergencies in collaboration with other healthcare professionals under distant supervision. The student is at all times expected to recognise when they need assistance from the preceptor and seek assistance in a timely manner.
