NMHS33040 Clinical Practice A (HDM)

Academic Year 2023/2024

The aim of the module is to introduce the student to clinical midwifery practice. The module emphasises the importance of critically and effectively applying theory to practice, utilising best evidence for practice, in the provision of safe and effective care. Students participate with the midwife in the provision of kind, compassionate and respectful midwifery care for women and their babies. The student is provided with an opportunity to apply under direct supervision of a registered midwife, theory and skills previously learned in the classroom and clinical skills laboratory, to the care of woman and baby during pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period.
