At the end of this module the student will:
1. Critically discuss the complex pathophysiology and aetiology of haematological conditions and malignancies.
2. Evaluate current diagnostic, treatment modalities, and management strategies in the care of patients with different types of haematological conditions (malignant and non-malignant).
3. Demonstrate foundation level competence in the holistic nursing management and education of patient being treated with various medications, cytotoxic chemotherapy, biologic therapies, radiotherapy, and transplantations – Bone Marrow and Stem Cells.
4. Effectively utilise an evidence-based rapid risk assessment, access, and communication framework leading to early recognition of potential emergencies and provision of appropriate and safe nursing care of patients receiving anticancer treatments.
5. Identify and discuss the ethical, cultural, legal, and psycho-social issues involved in the diagnosis and care of patients with haematological conditions, including provision of support for client’s family/carers/significant others.

The Haematology Nursing CPD programme is open to nurses registered with NMBI in the general division who have achieved a minimum of 6 months recent post registration clinical practice in the Oncology/Haematology Nursing Unit in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (MMUH). The Haematology Nursing CPD is facilitated in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. The minimum clinical exposure students are required to complete for this course is 75 hours per month for the duration of this CPD.

• Feedback individually to students, post-assessment
Students shall receive feedback on all assessments associated with the Haematology Nursing CPD programme. The purpose of feedback is the promotion of learning for the student. Feedback should be clear, understandable and be structured around goals, criteria and standards. Feedback can be in oral or written form, formal or informal. Students are responsible for engaging with feedback and applying consideration to the feedback given on their work. Feedback shall be given no later than twenty working days after the deadline for assessment submission, except work that is submitted late.
