On completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Identify the nature of human knowing and the principal domains of human learning.
2. Explore and analyse critically the role of the teacher/facilitator in facilitating learning.
3. Discuss the principles and practice of facilitating learning in the cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains of human learning.
4. Explore and critically analyse the factors that facilitate and inhibit learning, including learner factors, teacher factors, environmental factors and contextual factors.
5. Explore the concept of preceptorship and its’ application in nursing and midwifery practice.
6. Discuss the role of assessment in the teaching-learning process and examine strategies for the assessment of learning.
7. Discuss strategies for dealing with difficulties in the teaching, learning and assessment process in clinical practice.
8. Reflect on how they learn and how they can identify and address their own learning needs now, and in their future careers.
