On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Describe the unique anatomical and physiological characteristics in relation to breathing, circulation and genito-urinary function in children.
2. Explain the epidemiology and pathophysiology for altered breathing, circulation and genito-urinary function.
3. Using a case study and a systematic approach to nursing care, construct a nursing assessment to facilitate the identification of actual/potential problems for the child/family relevant to conditions within the module.
4. Create a nursing care plan encompassing nursing goals, interventions and appropriate principles of nursing care relevant to particular conditions within the module.
5. Discuss the relevant diagnostic, therapeutic and multidisciplinary aspects of care for the child and family relevant to the conditions addressed within the module.
6. Critically discuss the information, education, rehabilitative and support needs of the child and family, together with the services available or required within the hospital and the community.
