This clinical placement is designed to introduce the students to the “real life experience” of clinical placement and augment their knowledge obtained from Scientific Principles for Healthcare. Each student will be facilitated in gaining an equal amount of experience in both children's and general nursing clinical placements.

The module is designed to facilitate the learning of essential clinical skills and the attainment of standards related to the domains of competence assessment framework. Students will attend Psychology and Communication workshops designed to facilitate students to reflect on and identify their own strengths and weaknesses regarding communicating with patients and their families. The clinical placement will further permit students to experience patient contact and to facilitate the integration of knowledge and practice.

The credit load of the module reflects the student effort hours required to achieve the learning outcomes. The module is part of the essential clinical requirements for professional registration. Students must complete all Stage 1 clinical hours before progressing to Stage 2. 100% attendance requirement.
