An exploration of the genres and expressive resources of European art music in the period 1700-2000. No previous musical knowledge is required, only a curiosity about the great heritage of European art music.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

The student will have acquired (a) a strong sense of the generic and expressive structures developed in European art music in the period 1700-2000 and (b) an informed awareness of the relationship between music, politics and cultural history in this period.
