The objective of this module is to create an awareness of current and emerging Digital Business technologies and applications helping organisations to gain and sustain competitive advantage in the global marketplace. This module demonstrates the process of identifying and implementing sustainable and innovative Digital Business projects supporting the organisation’s overall strategy. Module participants will also investigate implications of Digital Business on different industry sectors. Main content areas covered are

• Digital Business in Today’s Organisation
• Digital Business and Competitive Advantage
• Digital Business Planning, Development and Project Management
• Digital Business-related Ethical, Social and Legal Issues
• Emerging Digital Business Trends

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of this module, students should be able to

a) Evaluate and discuss current and emerging Digital Business technologies and applications.

b) Identify Digital Business initiatives helping organizations to gain and sustain competitive advantage in the global marketplace. This includes new forms of communication, collaboration, and partnering, including providing stronger relationships with customers and suppliers.

c) Discuss legal, social, and ethical concerns that Digital Business raise in society and propose solutions to mitigate risks arising from the use of Digital Business.

d) Draft a Digital Business strategy for an organisation.

Students will attend classes for this module and have the opportunity to engage in active learning during these sessions. There will be in-class discussion and group work to analyse module concepts. Where appropriate, the module will incorporate case based learning.
