This module forms part of the core curriculum for the Graduate Programme in Healthcare Informatics and introduces students to healthcare records, health data and the systems and processes used to ensure the integrity of health information.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, students will have gained a comprehensive understanding of healthcare information, and will be able to
1) Describe the development and structure of medical records.
2) Differentiate between paper, electronic, and hybrid record systems.
3) Understand the legal and ethical considerations of health record use.
4) Assess data quality and clinical utility in sample records.
5) Understand the different types of data that constitute healthcare information
