MEEN40960 Research Methodologies

Academic Year 2023/2024

In this module, the participants, will engage in a scholarly environment among peers and supervisors, supporting each student’s research in their distinct context through shared and focused multidisciplinary activities. Participants will present their recent research in front of the entire cohort. They will be expected to engage in academic discussions with their peers on a range of subjects. They will be required reflect on their PhD progress overall and learning in the seminar sessions. Individual supervisions will be contained within the process.

The focus of this module is methodological approaches within applied research, and as they relate to PhD-level research across the fields of inclusive design & creative technology innovation.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Demonstrate an ability to engage in ‘higher level’ scholarly discussions
2. Critically evaluate your own research
3. Manage a presentation with question & answer session within the allocated time
4. Take responsibility for working within a group of research students
5. Take responsibility for evaluating your own research
6. Develop writing as part of academic sessions on the key themes of the seminar week
