On completion of this module, students will be able to:
1. Understand the project life cycle phases, processes and knowledge areas as set out in the PMBOK standards (project management book of knowledge).
2. Implement project management tools and techniques to analyse engineering projects.
3. Evaluate how effectively best practice project management techniques are employed in projects, using case studies and by assessing published academic and practitioner research.
4. Understand the roles and responsibilities, necessary skills and experience, of a project manager facing the challenge of managing socio-technical projects in the global business environment.
5. Evaluate the socio-technical nature of projects and the importance of intercultural communication and stakeholder engagement in global contexts.
6. Collaborate effectively in diverse teams, applying intercultural awareness in problem-solving and decision-making.
