The precise learning outcomes will depend on the individual project. In general, on successful completion of the project, the student will have the ability to:
1. Understand the global and specific context and motivation for the project in question while being cognisant of the United Nations sustainable development goals;
2. Demonstrate an advanced knowledge and understanding of a specialised multidisciplinary field;
3. Conduct a comprehensive, critical review of the literature and knowledge at the forefront of the field.;
4. Identify a new Energy engineering problem, taking account of current knowledge and debate;
5. Design an appropriate engineering solution to address the problem; develop and execute a project research plan;
6. Apply specialised knowledge to implement solutions and generate new insights through design, analysis, mathematical modelling and/or experimentation;
7. Develop new tools and techniques to solve engineering problems;
8. Summarise and present project results in a concise and appropriate format;
9. Analyse and interpret complex project outcomes and results, and discuss critically;
10. Formulate conclusions while taking account of the wider technical, professional and social context, particularly the contribution of the project towards the UN Sustainable Development goals;
11. Communicate project conclusions, and the rationale underpinning them, effectively to both specialist and non-specialist audiences, verbally and in writing;
12. Collaborate with supervisor, co-workers and/or support staff to achieve a technical solution;
13. Continue to learn in a self-directed, autonomous manner.
