This is an exciting new module that will discuss the challenges of global health in the developed and developing world.

Global Health is the health of populations in a global context; it is the study, research and practice that seeks to improve health. This module will focus on communicable diseases (HIV, Tuberculosis, Ebola etc), non-communicable diseases (cancer, heart disease, liver disease etc), healthcare inequity (women's health, children's health, migration etc) and developing the practical skills to develop research plans and highlight these issues.




About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this module, students will be able to recognise the challenges of global health and be able to discuss potential solutions for both communicable and non-communicable diseases.

They will be able to formulate a research idea and understand basic research concepts.

Indicative Module Content:

This module addresses major themes in global health including HIV, Malaria, Sexual Health, Tuberculosis, Lung cancer, Hospital Acquired infections, Liver Disease, Neglected Tropical Disease, Climate Change, Mental Health, Health Care models, Highly Infectious Diseases, Inclusion Health, Paediatric Health, Cardiovascular Disease, Obesity, Cancer, Women's Health, Study Design and Introduction to Research.
