This is a core module for the MB BCh BAO degree in medicine focussing on the normal anatomy and physiology of the digestive system. Consideration of the structural and functional basis of various gastrointestinal diseases is also included.

Learning Outcomes:

Following successful completion of all elements in this module students should be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of the structure and function relationships underpinning the fundamental workings of the digestive system

Learning Recommendations:

This module will be easier to understand if you already have some basic knowledge of structure and function (muscles, blood vessels, nerves). The practical classes in this module include whole-body dissection and computer-based histology.
