Clinical placement for Child Art Psychotherapy students in years 3 and 4 is carried out in a new setting from CAMHS in years 1 and 2. For this module students
engage with a clinical placement in an approved setting working to maintain a caseload of 6 clients per week. Examples of clinical placements include Tusla and
post-primary school settings; other contexts may be arranged and are subject to Steering Committee approval. This clinical placement builds upon students’ clinical
experience from years 1 and 2 while increasing the caseload from 3 to 6 clients. Students are expected to attend placement 2 days per week and attend regular (i.e.
fortnightly) case management supervision with an area manager or other senior team member.
This module is closely linked with the Supervision 3 and 4 modules which support the student’s clinical practice and development.

Students will have the ability to integrate their specialised knowledge and professional skills within a variety of organisations and to reflect within the wider
multidisciplinary context on child and adolescent mental health issues, the legal framework and ethical considerations

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
The student learns through the provision of Child Art Psychotherapy, with supervision. The student is also expected to continue developing reflective learning skills,
and to learn more about mental health difficulties in young people from cases seen in the clinical setting, learning from the multidisciplinary team.
