This module is delivered in Year 4 of the Professional Masters in Child Art Psychotherapy.

Lectures/Seminars in this module are delivered by experienced senior practitioners from diverse psychotherapeutic modalities, centred around working therapeutically with children and adolescents presenting with moderate to high risk symptoms.

- Students will continue to develop their understanding of Child Art Psychotherapy through lectures on varying and
diverse perspectives of child and adolescent psychopathology.
- The clinical relevance of Child Art Psychotherapy is evaluated and discussed. In this module, a student’s knowledge of psychotherapeutic perspectives is built upon to further inform and develop their clinical practice.
- Trainees continue to explore the application of Child Art Psychotherapy in a range of clinical settings.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

Students will be able to:

1) Demonstrate a more in depth knowledge and understanding of Child and Adolescent Psychopathology and how this informs their clinical practice;

2) Further evaluate Child Art Psychotherapy as a treatment method for children and adolescents presenting with various mental health concerns;

3) Continue to articulate the role of Child Art Psychotherapy in varying clinical contexts;

4) Distinguish the specific role of Child Art Psychotherapy from other similar interventions

Indicative Module Content:

This module involves presentations and seminars relating to -

- Discussions and reflections regarding the role of Child Art Psychotherapy in various settings including but not limited to the following;

1) working with children with attachment difficulties
2) young people with low mood,
3) young people with school attendance difficulties
4) young people presenting with symptoms of trauma.

Space for discussion regarding the challenges of psychopathology presenting to independent practitioners.
