MDCS42500 Child&Adolst Psychopathology 1

This module is delivered in Year 3 of training.
Students will continue to develop their understanding of Child Art Psychotherapy through lectures on varying and
diverse perspectives of child and adolescent psychopathology. The clinical relevance of Child Art Psychotherapy is
evaluated and discussed. In this module, a student’s knowledge of psychotherapeutic perspectives is built upon to
further inform and develop their clinical practice. Trainees continue to explore the application of Child Art
Psychotherapy in a range of clinical settings. Lectures in this module are delivered by experienced practitioners
from diverse psychotherapeutic modalities, centred around working therapeutically with children and adolescents.

Learning Outcomes:

Students will be able to: 1) Demonstrate how knowledge and understanding of child and adolescent psychopathology informs their clinical practice; 2) Evaluate
Child Art Psychotherapy as a treatment method for various mental health concerns; 3) Articulate the role of CAP in varying clinical contexts; 4) Distinguish the role of
CAP from other similar interventions
