This is a Clinical Placement module to allow students to gain practical experience in a secondary care environment.
Regular case-based scenarios will encourage the integration of knowledge across modules that consider structure, function, disease and patient care.


About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of the module, a student should be able to:

- Perform clinical examination of patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal complaints competently and enhance these skills further.
- Have gained practical experience of Orthopedic secondary care environments.
- Use their experiences on clinical placement to reflect on their own clinical practice.
- Critically appraise the literature around specific musculoskeletal issues and summarise it in the form of case reviews.

Indicative Module Content:

Clinical placements will occur in multiple clinics over two clinical sites to give a wide variety of experiences.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
Module delivery will involve 80 hours of clinical placements over 14 weeks.
Throughout the module self directed and group learning willl be used as a model for life-long Continual professional development.
Generative artifical intelligence, or other machine learning technologies should not be used by students in their submissions for this module.




Requirements, Exclusions and Recommendations
Learning Requirements:

Applicants should:
• Hold an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (e.g. Medicine, Nursing & Midwifery, Physiotherapy, etc)
• Possess an equivalent professional qualification, or
• Have relevant clinical experience in orthopaedics, primary care, or physiotherapy.

How will my Feedback be Delivered?

Grades from online assessments will be available online. Peer feedback relating to Group projects will be given on the same day. Case reports will be given regular feedback in person/audio/video or written formats at regular intervals.
