Access to this module is limited to nominees of the statutory health services. This module equips the candidate to deal with the assessment and management of situations to the standards required of a Registered Advanced Paramedic. The module builds on principles of anatomy and physiology introduced in the paramedic programme. The module addresses the structure, function and pathophysiology of organ systems applied to advanced paramedic practice.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of the module, candidates will demonstrate knowledge, understanding and the clinical relevance of structure and function of the following:
1) musculoskeletal system
2) nervous system including sympathetic and parasympathetic
3) gastrointestinal and endocrine systems
4) genito-urinary and reproductive systems
5) cells tissues, body chemistry and homeostasis
6) heart, cardiovascular system and blood
7) respiratory system
