MDCS41120 Mentorship (AP)

Academic Year 2022/2023

Access to this module is limited to nominees of the statutory health services. This module equips the candidate to deal with the assessment and management of situations to the standards required of a Registered Advanced Paramedic. During the experiential phases of the course, candidates will work closely with colleagues in similar posts and with more junior and senior practitioners. The ability to supervise, monitor and guide colleagues in the clinical care of patients and the development of professional and clinical competencies will be addressed in this module.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of the module, candidates will:

1. know and understand the principles of mentorship
2. demonstrate competence in basic clinical task assessment and feedback
3. understand and apply the principles of self assessment in clinical audit and will work with other AP candidates in this process.
4. support Paramedics and EMTs in daily practice and up-skilling programmes.
