MDCS30060 Thesis Dissertation

Academic Year 2023/2024

Students will submit an 6,000 word dissertation following the end of the teaching component of the Higher Diploma. In preparation, they will be expected to have developed a robust dissertation proposal by the end of February. Students will carry out a literature search and will have an overall structure for the thesis by late April. Direction for the thesis will be provided by a thesis supervisor, who will be one of the contributors to the programme or another recognised supervisor.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module students should be able to:1. Situate their research in the context of the ethical, logistical and epistemological issues involved in research in the field of psychotherapy; 2. 2. Formulate, present and develop a dissertation proposal; 3. Write up a scholarly dissertation of 6,000 words 4. Situate their research in the context of psychotherapy in Ireland 5. Apply appropriate methodology to their research.
