This is a graduate level research project in financial mathematics. The student will have the opportunity to study a significant research question in financial mathematics. They are expected to write a dissertation giving an original exposition of the topic which demonstrates an in-depth mastery of its theoretical and/or applied elements, and an understanding of its relevance and applicability to real world scenarios. The project will be completed under the direct supervision of a member of the UCD School of Mathematics and Statistics.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of the module students will have:
1. gained an in-depth knowledge of a particular topic in financial mathematics;
2. written a dissertation on the topic demonstrating critical judgement and evaluation skills of theoretical and/or applied financial mathematical techniques;
3. given an oral presentation communicating the key elements of the dissertation to a general mathematically and statistically literate audience.
