Curricular information is subject to change.

This module is offered to first year science students. It is a comprehensive introduction into basic linear-algebraic structures and methods. It covers linear systems, algebra of matrices and analytic geometry in up to three dimensions. The main emphasis is put on methodological aspects as opposed to theoretical aspects and rigid theorem proving. Applications to science are part of the discussion.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module students should be able to recognise problems that can be solved by linear systems, and solve them. They should be able to perform standard calculations with matrices, and understand basic concepts of Euclidean geometry in two and three dimensional space.
