On successful completion of this module the student should be able to:
1. Manipulate numerical and algebraic expressions;
2. Solve linear, quadratic and simultaneous equations;
3. Sketch lines and curves;
4. Define what a function is;
5. Use trigonometric identities;
6. Differentiate and integrate polynomial, trigonometric, logarithmic and exponential functions;
7. Identify and calculate measures of centre and measures of spread of a data set; and
8. fit a straight line to a set of points using the least squares method.

Feedback will be available as a whole class in lectures and individually in the UCD Maths Support Centre (MSC) ONLINE at the weekly 90-minute support session. Self-assessment and online personalised feedback is available through the Numbas software. Peer review is encouraged in the MSC setting.
