The aim of this module is to allow students to further develop and reflect on their legal skills. These skills include legal writing skills, legal research skills, referencing, presentation skills and project management skills. Students will be encouraged to consider their progress since beginning University, to identify their own learning needs and skill gaps, and to develop and follow a plan to augment their own skills. Students will be asked to produce a learning portfolio to show the steps in this process and their learning outcomes. In addition, students will look forward to their own career paths, and will be connected with the Careers Network to ensure that they are in a good position moving forward in their careers. Finally, students will form part of the School's Academic Advisory team, identifying student needs and working together to provide academic advisory services for other students. This may include clinics, workshops or other initiatives.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this module students should
1. Have identified gaps or challenges in their legal skills, focusing on areas such as legal writing, legal research, presentation skills and project management.
2. Have developed and followed through on a personalised plan to improve skills in these identified areas.
3. Have developed their career plan
4. Have contributed to academic advising in the School of Law, by identifying student needs and developing a plan to deliver on those needs. This may include a presentation, workshop, clinic or other form of academic advice for other students in the Law School.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
This module is a student-led, reflective module. Students will be asked to reflect on their own legal skills, to identify areas where those skills are in need of enhancement, and to develop and follow a plan to achieve this. Participation is key in this module, as students will be engaged in group discussions and a group project.

How will my Feedback be Delivered?

Students will be provided with feedback on their portfolios and development plans in class, both from the module coordinator and from their peers. Active participation in class is vital to obtain this feedback. They will also be encouraged to seek feedback on their portfolios and development plans from third parties, such as their Academic Advisor and the Careers Network.
