This module prepares students to become informed, autonomous learners in a University context and draws connections between the world of study and future careers. It provides an introduction to a range of core academic and professional skills. This module aims to provide criminology students with an understanding of the main concepts and principles of a number of skills to enable them to develop competence in applying these skills across their course of study.

Learning Outcomes:

Having completed this module students will be able to:
Understand what is expected of them as active and autonomous University learners;

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
This module is delivered face to face with additional online activities to be completed.
Students will be assigned work to prepare most weeks. This may be reading, watching short videos, completing online exercises, meeting academic advisors, or preparing written work. Students are expected to engage with all teaching and learning activities; this will be essential for keeping up with the continuous assessment on the module.

How will my Feedback be Delivered?

Feedback is an important part of learning, particularly at University where students are expected to be active and independent learning. Feedback helps you to understand your strengths and weaknesses; identify gaps in your knowledge; and learn how to improve. This module is assessed through continuous assessment, and different types of feedback are available: Individual and group formative feedback on your academic writing assignment. Feedback provided when the online plagiarism quiz is completed. Individual and group feedback on specific issues discussed during staff virtual office hours / raised in class.
