The key aims of this module are: 1. To provide students with a core understanding of the Irish Legal System 2. To understand the hierarchy of courts and what each of them does; 3. To understand how judges are appointed in Ireland and their responsibilities 4. To appreciate how to interpret statutes 5. the extent to which courts are bound by their own previous decisions. 6. The role played by solicitors, barristers and other legal professionals in the Irish legal system.
