This module is designed as an Introduction to EU law and Institutions and is not offered to UCD Law students enrolled in a four year BCL or BBL programme . It is available to 'visiting' or international law students and UCD students enrolled in non-law programmes. r
It examines the powers and roles of key EU institutions and pays close attention to the European Commission and the European Courts (Luxembourg). It examines important EU principles such as supremacy and direct effect.
It analyses selected areas of EU Economic Law such as free movement of citizens/workers/ goods throughout the EU.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, students should
be able to express an informed understanding of the legal principles underlying selected ares of EU law and the institutional architecture.
