This class teaches about trees and woodlands in the Irish landscape. This is an active learning module, it is associated with an ongoing multidisciplinary research project with work concentrated into several days over the Easter field break. The module also involves some preparatory classes, tree walks on campus and a field trip to woodlands in Wicklow.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

- Identify 25 different species of tree located within the UCD campus
- Have an understanding of native and non-native trees in Ireland
- Have an understanding of the history of Ireland's trees and woodlands
- Be familiar with Tree and plant ID apps
- Be familiar with methods of measuring and recording trees, and communicating about trees
