LARC40520 Landscape Study II

Academic Year 2021/2022

Building on the knowledge gathered in Autumn, this studio module deepens insights into the system formed by a complex landscape, and the people that live there. Students pursue self-directed individual project work, exploring chosen aspects of this anthropogenic landscape through readings, research and fieldwork, under the guidance of studio staff.

Tutorials support progress as necessary, with occasional reviews involving school staff and visiting experts. A studio report is submitted at the end of the trimester, summarizing the process and progress of the work and reflecting the student's thinking on the territory of enquiry. Each student assembles a portfolio of work that deals substantially with issues identified through the semester. By the end of this trimester, students should have developed a thesis proposal for further study over the summer.
