On successful completion of this module students should be able to: convey information and express views in Italian (related to the topics listed in the Module Description), in both written and spoken form, with accuracy and fluency; participate actively in Italian conversations, discussions and debates (on the topics listed in the Module Descriptor) carried out at near normal speed; translate effectively, elegantly, speedily and with awareness from Italian into English, in different registers; develop effective autonomous strategies for the learning of foreign languages.
Indicative Module Content:Core topics are likely to include core grammar contents, such as the passato remoto; direct, indirect and combined object pronouns; comparatives and superlatives; differences in usage of the definite article between the two languages; passato prossimo vs imperfetto. Students will also be encouraged to suggest grammar topics that they wish to focus on.

Learning Recommendations:This is part 1 of an advanced language course. It presupposes that students have passed ITAL 20080 (Italian Language IIb) or have an equivalent standard of Italian. They should not take this module if they do not have the required standard. If in doubt they should contact the module coordinator.
