Information professional play an important role in accessing, organising, interpreting, and applying health information by a wide variety of users. This module introduces students to the field of health librarianship and examine the core competencies of health information professionals. Topics covered by this module include health information search and reference services, health information management and technologies, health literacy and instruction, evidence-based practice and systematic reviews, and health library leadership and management.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this module, students will be able to:

Articulate the core skills and competencies of information professionals in health related roles and settings.

Understand recent trends and developments in health information infrastructure and technologies.

Conduct and evaluate advanced literature searches using health information databases to address user needs.

Develop familiarity with regulations and metadata standards that govern the management and use of health information.

Plan, coordinate, and deliver health information services for diverse user groups.
