This module is an introduction to the research process and methods used in information studies. It covers the early stages of the research process, including identifying important and realistic research topics, critiquing literature and conducting a literature review, the role and uses of methods, research ethics, and presenting research in the context of applied work.



About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

1. Explain research philosophies.
2. Understand basic elements of the empirical research process.
3. Propose research methods for applied contexts.
4. Perform basic statistical analyses.
5. Develop effective surveys, questionnaires, interview protocols and desk research methods for evaluation of applied work.
6. Develop a plan for a capstone or thesis project
